St James Church has links with a wide range of mission partners, both locally and further afield. You can be involved on many levels: taking an interest and praying; supporting financially; or even joining the organisation and serving directly.
ACTS (Actions for Children’s Trust) is a charity working with local Ugandan organizations to raise awareness, minimise medical and health inequity as well as promoting and advocating for the welfare of children, especially those living with chronic illnesses and disability. We believe every child deserves a right to equal access to health care; children living with neurological and life threatening disease or illnesses having the best quality of life and treatment available. Our mandate is to cut the chords of generational poverty through empowerment in job creation and entrepreneurship programs.
We work with parent-led organisations especially parents of children with disabilities to enable and support projects aimed to improving their well being as well as those of their children. We want to be ‘Hands and Feet’, be the ones to go for you and deliver what we believe is the ultimate call on all believers.
Ruth Preater-Gillard is our contact person and will be happy to tell you about their work. She is a local Trustee of ACTs and went out with a group of colleagues to visit and take equipment to the ACTs/Alleviate project in Uganda. This is a developing and growing ministry seeking to support children and families living with disabilities
