Lifegroups and Other Groups

Lifegroups create a space for people to intentionally share their lives with others and encourage each other through the highs and lows of life.

In a Lifegroup you will meet ordinary people, with ordinary lives gathering in homes, on the church premises and other places.

Some Lifegroups are centred on exploring the Bible and discussing the weekly messages while others are centred on a common interest.  Some groups meet weekly, others bi-weekly or monthly.

Happy exploring,
Rev. Fabian

Based on an informal mix of fellowship, Bible study, and mutual support, we have groups meeting each week in a number of homes across the town. All meet mid-week, mainly in the evening, but with some morning and afternoon meeting groups. A few meet fortnightly.
See the Bible Study Notes page for the latest weekly material.

Thursday Fellowship is a meeting for men and women on the first Thursday of each month at 2pm, usually in the Large Hall.

The group has been going in various forms for many years and is currently well supported. A small committee set up the annual programme with input and suggestions from any of the members. Our aim is to have a mix of Christian and secular speakers, but in each meeting we include a hymn, bible reading and prayers whoever the speaker is. We manage a blend of interesting and informative meetings, not to mention fun; and it is particularly good sometimes to have members of the congregation speak on their speciality.

If you ask our members what they value from the meetings, the words ‘friendship’ ‘fun’ ‘a way to meet members of the congregation if you are new’ and ‘a relaxed afternoon’ are various responses. We try to reach out to church members and their friends, who often initially have no church commitment. People are never pressured to join but often find it is a way into church.

Our monthly meetings include an annual Musical Afternoon, cream tea, Christmas lunch and an annual Communion service.

We pay for our speakers through our monthly donation and also support a Pavement worker with street children in Brazil through Scripture Gift Mission. We supply the free literature on the table at the church entrance where you will find a copy of our current programme.

I would like to encourage anyone who has just a little interest in knowing us to choose a subject on the programme and come and see! We are glad to welcome intermittent members and I believe the quality of the friendship is of the highest.

Please contact the church office on 01823 272931 or email info@stjamestaunton.co.uk to be put in touch with the group leaders.
