Dear fellow members of St James, Taunton

Here at St James we want to join with what God is doing and believe that God has opened a special door for working with families and children. In the last few years, we have seen a steady growth in the number of families, children and young people coming to church activities in the week, on Sundays and at special events. There has also been a growing church presence at our local school, St. James Church School. We believe that God is calling us to invest in those families and children.

Current growth means that we need a person who can oversee the work and take it further. We are looking for someone who will develop this ministry within the church and in the wider community. The post will enable us to create a really attractive church community where children and their families encounter God’s love, grow as followers of Jesus and participate in his life.

It has been agreed by the PCC and others in leadership that the post needs to become a full-time paid Children and Families worker. We see this as a long term investment for the future of the church. We should, therefore, ensure a minimum of 3 years’ initial financial commitment with an annual cost of around £25,000 (Salary, Tax and NI, Expenses). This is a big step of faith as we are looking at raising £75,000 to cover the initial period.

So, please would you pray about your financial giving. We recognise that not all may be able to give financially, however, your continued prayer support will be an invaluable contribution to this project.
